SEA Games 31th: In what format will the Golf tournament at the 31st SEA Games be played?

From May 13^th to May 18^th, the Golf competition of SEA Games 31^st will officially kick off at Heron Lake Golf Course and Resort (Dam Vac golf course).

Dam Vac golf course is chosen to be the location for the golf tournament at SEA Games 31^st.

Just like every year, Golf at SEA Games 31^st will have singles and team league for both men and women, with 4 sets of medals awarded.

The singles league will be played in stroke play. The golfers will go through 3 rounds on the Dam Vac golf course, the gold medal will go to the athlete with the least strokes after 54 holes. At the end of the last day of competition, if the golfers have the same results in the First, Second, and Third positions, the playoff series will be held at the golf hole decided by the organizer.

Team’s league: 8 teams with the best results in singles league will participate in the quarterfinal of the team’s league with the calculation of points as follow:

- Men's team: In each singles league’s competition round, the organizer will choose the best performance of three out of four athletes of each team. The team with the best total score after three rounds of singles league’s competition will be ranked 1^st seed in the singles league.

For example: The best performance of Vietnam golf’s team through each round is:

- Round 1: Nguyen Anh Minh (71), Nguyen Dang Minh (72), Nguyen Quang Tri (73)

- Round 2: : Le Khanh Hung (69), Nguyen Anh Minh (72), Nguyen Bao Long (72)

- Round 3: Le Khanh Hung (70), Nguyen Bao Long (71), Nguyen Dang Minh (71)

The total ranking score of Vietnam golf’s team will be 641

Team’s league branch of competition at SEA Games 31^st

- Women's team: Similar to the men's team, the organizer will choose the best performance of two out of three athletes of each team. The team with the best total score after 3 rounds of singles competition will be ranked 1^st seed in the team’s league.

 

Matches in the team’s league will take place in a one-on-one format with 3 singles matches in the men's league, and 2 matches in the women's league. Each win will get 1 point, draw get 0.5 point and loss get 0 point. In the men's league, the team that reaches 2 points first will win and advance to the next round. In the women's league, it is 1.5 points. If there is a tie, each team will choose 1 golfer to participate in the playoff round with the hole chosen by the organizer.

The singles league will officially start on May 13^th and end on May 15^th. After that, the team’s league will take place in 3 days from the 16^th to the 18^th of May on Dam Vac golf course.
